SUMMER-ENHANCING PEOPLE

Virtual Escapism: Charlotte Taylor

The Tiled House with Hannes Lippert

The virtual escapes of Charlotte Taylor are varied, meticulously composed and always magnetic. Taking our internet daydreams and soon to be physical spaces by storm, “I draw inspiration from almost everywhere; old advertising and books, little details I find interesting whilst out on a walk, objects, and even conversations. My work is a patchwork and culmination of anything that catches my attention…”

Highlights

  • Poolsuite Picks: Villa del Soffio (Puglia), Iceland House, The Residency (Joshua Tree), The Road Trip and Utah House which will be built IRL

  • Explore Charlotte’s IRL house in London Fields, a modern expression of her ever-changing creative process

  • The Tiled House imagined with Hannes Lippert is made from a versatile Dutch material called DTILE which can bend round corners and edges, allowing any space or object to be fully tiled

  • Ultra summer: Villa Saraceni is a gorgeous, organic oceanside collaboration with Riccardo Fornoni with sound recorded at Scala dei Turchi in Sicily

  • Charlotte’s unique aesthetic moves between fantasy and reality and is inspired by Californian and Brazilian Modernism

  • Maison de Sable is a 3D and moving image studio under the artistic direction of Charlotte Taylor that also curates the best 3D architectural render work going on in the industry

  • The Atelier is “a digital studio designed from the idea of representing both personalities and work process in the same space, allowing us to understand how the digital and traditional processes merge in our works” with Alba de la Fuente. Check out the process video

  • Casa Atibaia in collaboration with Nicolas Préaud is the ideal modernist jungle home, inspired by the legendary Brazilian Modernist architect Lina Bo Bardi, perhaps most famous for her Casa de Vidro (Glass House)

  • 5 Minutes with Charlotte Taylor: “I’m discovering that I am quite a hoarder... My apartment is full of primitive style wooden objects, an excessive amount of lamps, some handmade sculptural elements and a few statement design pieces”

My most joyful apps ✨

• Obligatory Poolsuite FM shout-out... (iOS & Mac)

• Endel (generative soundscapes for relaxation and concentration) - https://endel.io/

• Cosmos (a beautiful app for curating & discovering inspiration imagery) - https://cosmos.so/

• Also loving the Substack app for iOS. Is Substack the new Twitter?

I love you Poolsuite. The Palm Report makes my day, every time. In this edition, I particularly enjoyed the section mentioning, albeit briefly, Vacation® brand candles. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say, Vacation® is by far the most clever and thoughtfully produced sunscreen brand broadly distributed in the United States of America. Great work!
