Anyone who isn't afraid to live life on their own terms. We've all got something we're naturally drawn to; having the courage to go all-in on that specific endeavour to make it a "job" is a commendable feat. If you're reading this and have been contemplating such a decision? Do it! There's nothing worse than regret; do what future you would be proud of 🥂

I agree with this from the bottom of my soul, and just sent it to a few friends. Thank you. 💫

Such a profound statement. Just like Marty, I will be sharing it with a couple of people who need to hear this!

Big fan of Norm MacDonald, always stayed true to himself, especially when it came to comedy and his interpretation of it. Super smart but in a very calm & subtle way 🥀

I just returned from visiting two dear friends in Eugene, OR and my face still hurts from all the laughter. It was a short trip but we made the best of the time we had. They are the kind of friends who I may go years without seeing and we are still able to pick up as if there was never a break. They live a life full of outrageous comedy, exciting art, toe-tapping music, irresistible food, and community. They took me to their local hangs and we ran into friends who lit up with excitement upon seeing them and embraced them in big bear hugs. They always have some project going on and live to experience life. It inspires me to break out of humdrum routines and to take charge of what I want to see in the world. They inspire me to create. They inspire me to find humor. They inspire me to get interested. Most importantly, they inspire me to be comfortable with myself.

"Live to experience life" - I don't think I've ever seen this written so succinctly. That's the meaning of life, right? I'm actively trying to do more of it... weekly dinners with friends, multi-day road trips, stopping to listen to the busker in the street, driving an hour just to watch the sunset at the best possible place.

Your friends sound like the most wonderful people, and the kind of people that everyone needs to surround themselves with. Energy givers vs. energy stealers. I want to hang out with them. I hope you show them this comment you wrote about them!

I just shared it right now! That sort of honesty and vulnerable expression of love and appreciation is exactly what makes them great! I love your list and it makes me excited that you're trying to do more of those things.

Not a direct friend, but a friend of a friend: works in anti-poaching and nature conservation in around Southern Africa. His life is filled with adventure and adrenaline, there isn't much money in it but he does what he loves!

Would love to see a Palm Report about animals and wilderness, not enough attention is given to wildlife and nature preservation!

That's an extremely cool friend of a friend! This is a great idea re: animals & wilderness. We'll get on it; if anyone comes to mind as a great person to feature in that world, let us know! 🙏

First person that comes to mind is: Forrest Galant. He works in wildlife and explores hostile environments looking for extinct animals

Craig Mod and Chris Arnade. I love reading these two and all of their adventures walking around the world.

It’s inspiring in a couple facets: writing, photography, the physical act of long walks, and socializing to learn more about different cultures.

Most excited to have discovered Chris Arnade's Substack from your comment, thanks Drew. We'll feature it soon and give you a shout out. I've found myself taking multi hour walks around Lisbon recently, getting excited about taking photos again; it makes me feel like I'm appreciating all the little moments again that I might usually walk by.
